ABOUT HOUNDS OF GRACE

Gracie's Story

Gracie was found wandering in rural South Carolina and taken to a high kill shelter in Columbia, S.C.  She had been severely abused in ways we'll never entirely know, and find difficult to comprehend.  She had a deeply embedded collar in her neck that required two surgeries to repair, a broken tail, a  hole punched in her ear, and what appeared to be a leg injury.  She was emaciated, dehydrated, and  had heartworm disease.  It was a long road for Gracie both physically and emotionally and Deborah  Parrish was her advocate on this journey to recovery.  It was this experience with Gracie that  compelled Deborah to make the commitment to improve the lives of hounds and their often tragic  circumstances.

I'm Deborah Parrish, member of the Hounds of Grace team.  We are dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of the hunting breeds. These dogs have been abused, neglected, abandoned, surrendered, found as strays, dumped, or otherwise in situations that compromise their health and well being (both physical and emotional/behavioral).  The vast majority of these abused and neglected dogs suffer from multiple physical/health issues that prevent them from being immediately adopted.  Many of these dogs require longer term, specialized foster care.  Our goal is to provide them with medical care and transition assistance needed to prepare them for a more peaceful home life.

Please join us in giving these Hounds a voice, and help them get on a path to safety and a new life.
